I am not sure of that name at all but for the meantime it sticks just because we were all pretty slap happy after an 8 hour organizational meeting. Yes, a group of quilters here in my local town have joined together to enjoy each others company, quilt, sew, laugh and share our love of quilting. We are small in number but big in heart and at this time we are happy with the group and our goals. We know we will grow with time. A small quilting circle. We chose as our first community action project to become involved in the rebuilding of Joplin, Missouri, specifically the "Baby Unit" of St. John's Hospital once rebuilt. We are challenging ourselves to make 100+ flannel baby blankets, 100+ of the knit hats the babies wear in the nursery as well as 50 dozen cloth diapers and 100+ baby quilts with each baby receiving 6 diapers and a quilt upon discharge. We are hoping to have these done and ready for when the hospital reopens. It is an exciting project and considering there are only 8 of us in the group at this time, we have our work cut out for us. This fabric would mean a great deal to me if I won it. We are all anxious for the next meeting. Some of the gals want to meet every two weeks and we may just do that. They also know my basement is open every day if they want to come sew with company.
There will soon be a giveaway from this quilting group. Keep a "Sharp L@@K Out" for the new blog to come out!!!
