Welcome to everyone hopping around in blog land for the Quilter's Blog Hop Party With Giveaways. A huge thank you to Michelle for organizing this event. By the way, Happy 4th Birthday Michelle. It’s sure to be a lot of fun.
Hi there to all of you and I can't tell you how happy I am too welcome you to my blog. If you’re new to The Learning Curve, let me tell you a bit about my blog and myself. I am a retired nurse and I first started quilting when I was 16. My mother is to blame for this addiction of mine. I have found out that one can have too many quilts but one can never make enough quilts. It is a deep seated addiction that there is no cure for (at least I have convinced my hubz of that). But seriously, he is just as crazy about the quilts I make as I am. He even has his own fabric and is planning on making a quilt on his own. I can't wait to see, he is such a perfectionist I hope he doesn't get frustrated and give up. I love to write in my blog and after the first of the year I hope I can keep you all in stitches either with laughter or ideas.
I love giveaways, I love entering them and I really love doing them. I love to visit other blogs and read them. 2012 is coming very quickly and I have a day planner to help me get back to my sewing machine and spend less time on my computer. I have things that I really need to get done. I also am a long arm quilter and I have a nice little home business that keeps me with some fabric money in my pocket. It is so wonderful to see the change in a person from the time they leave the quilt with me and when they pick it up, they are just astounded that their work of art is really that beautiful. It isn't necessarily the quilting that I do on it, it is the fact that it is finished and something to be proud of. Accomplishment is the best ego booster of all time. I also like to make small things such as mug rugs, mini quilts, doll quilts, etc..
I must be a good story teller, at least that is what I have been told. And I do love to tell a good story, especially those based on happenings in my life, my family and my friends are quite often embellished in my stories, after all they are part of my crazy funny life.
I also am a book "ho". There isn't a book out there that isn't worth reading at least once. I dearly love my quilt books and I have filled 2 shelves in my bookcase just this year. Hubz just shakes his head. He does that a lot. I thought maybe he was trying to clear it but I understand now, the poor man just doesn't get it. At least that is what I thought until a few weeks back when he came home from an auction with a tote tub full of quilt books that he claimed to be his. He doesn't know that in time they will be on my shelves. Hee Hee.
I currently have a giveaway going on "Christmas Stocking Surprise" and there is still time to enter and get caught up. It is a huge 12 sponsor giveaway with one winner take all! Wish I could enter my own contest it is so good.
Now to the business at hand.
My Give-Away

ReplyDeleteOf all the "newly arrived" fabrics, I'm suddenly infatuated with Kate Spain's Good Fortune.
ReplyDeleteBut my true love these days is "London" by Free Spirit, in all the colorways.
I attended an emergency preparedness seminar last night, and my Christmas wish list has been updated. Now I am hoping for new leather collars and harnesses for all of our dogs; we learned that in a fire emergency, nylon collars will melt into a pet's skin. Horrible. So now my priority is to update the dogs's wardrobes.
ReplyDeleteBut I won't be crushed if some new "London" fabric is under my tree. :)
