Been A Sad Past Couple of Weeks

It was a great shock when I found out my friend Laurie had passed away unexpectedly.  I hadn't been able to reach her in a while and I should have checked on her at work, but....well you know....we all say tomorrow and sometimes that tomorrow never comes and then it is too.....late.  We had so much fun together. We went on vacation to New Orleans, introduced my beer drinking friend to hard liquor in the form of the infamous "Hurricane", 1/2 way through it she couldn't feel her lips so I finished it for her along with the four others I had.  We sang on the street with the street musicians and had a great time.  The next day we went to the beach at Biloxi and she got so sunburned, we both got stung by jelly fish but still had a great time.  I will miss you dear lady.  RIP.....

Then just 2 days ago, our elderly neighbor and friend sat down in his recliner and went to sleep forever.  We were shocked with that news as well.  Steve went down to check on him and his son had just found him.  I will miss the old guy, full of bluff and bluster but had wisdom to counter the b&b...We will miss you Benny, it was great knowing you.

I will see you both in Heaven.  Save my place.

Today my Bff Marilyn liked to have worked me to death.  I finished sewing the back for the memory quilt for another Bff Judy.  I made a full bed pillow sham for her as well. The quilt goes into my quilting machine Monday first thing.  I put together the back for Marilyn's quilt and for the first time I added quilt blocks to the back of a quilt.  I love it and so does she.  Ooops, I just remembered I forgot to put labels on both of the quilts,  Oh well, tomorrow.  After that, I helped Marilyn get some towels ready for some applique and embroidery.  She will be tracing the designs on them tomorrow while I work on cleaning the basement.  It is such a hideous mess, I am embarrassed.  I hope I have time and the inclination to take apart my sewing chair, add some more padding to the seat and recover it, or at least get started.  We then picked out fabric for her to make a quilt for her new grand-dog Pearl.  She is so proud of her.  Quilt will be cute, she is working on it tomorrow too.  We will cut out the 3rd block of our BOM that we are doing.  LOL, noticed yesterday that I sewed the handle on my basket block from last month, upside down.  Ripped and ready to sew tomorrow.  Gosh tomorrow sounds so busy.   I hope I get most of it done.  The chair will probably go on hold for a bit.  I'll just use a pillow under my plump behind.  I hope I get some pictures taken tomorrow to show what I have been doing.

I am so ready for Spring and I know you all are too.  I won't bend your ear any longer.

What did you do this week?

  1. Warm thoughts are being sent out to you in your grief...and a hug too.

Embrace all those close to you now and yes...I too believe we'll be embraced by those whom we love and love us on the other side.

  2. Prayers for your grieving heart. This is a good reminder not to put things off because we never know when it is our last opportunity.
