The first thing I check every morning when I get up is what the Daily Deal at Missouri Star Quilt Company is. They offer unbeatable deals every day.  A great way to build your stash or get that charm pack or jelly roll maybe that you have been coveting.  They offer different items from fabric to rulers. Take a peek every morning when you get up, it is so worth it.  They also carry a large line of fabrics.  Bookmark the link at the top of post so you don't forget!!

12 days until something fantastic will be happening here at The Learning Curve~Quilts and Such. Have you read any good quilting books lately?  Who is you favorite "quilty" author? I include quilt pattern books in this question.  You may or may not win a prize if you answer the question but why not have a bit of fun?

The answer to yesterdays question was a resounding "quilts". Thanks to those who answered you will find out in 12 days if you won something or not. (that sounds kind of evil doesn't it)?

Have a great Sunday!

  1. My latest 'quilty' book I have used is Scrap Basket sensations by Kim Bracket. I already made 1 quilt from it and have the next one planned and fabric bought.

  6. I love the book "Twelve by Twelve", that follows a year of creating art quilts among a group of quilters spread across the globe. You can read it month by month, or follow each quilter's year of creations, or read through it for the technical details. It is non-fiction but I turn to it like a story book.

On the fiction side, I really enjoy the "Someday Quilts" mysteries by Clare O'Donohue. Sometimes the lead character is frustrating to me with her impulsivity, but I think that's the sign of a good book--she's real enough to me that I want to give her a talking to.

I think you might like another series I've been reading, the "Cobble Court" series by Marie Bostwick.

It's fun to see what everyone else is recommending. I have "Simplify" and am planning to make one of the quilts from it as soon as I make some progress on Christmas.

  7. I just started reading "Twelve by Twelve". It's about 12 quilt artists around the world that make a 12x12" quilt based on a designated theme every two months. I believe they did this over two years. Each of the artists picked a theme. Some of the them are chocolate, chairs and passion. It tells about the artist, their inspiration the whole process. I just started it and it's really neat to see some of the behind the scene stuff, not to mention these wild, beautiful and totally awesome 12x12" quilts. It's great to see the creative mind at work.
    (Hope I'm not rambling. hehe.)
