Christmas Stocking Surprise Day 7

Sorry for flaking out with the "walking pneumonia", man it really kicked me in the butt and didn't even ask my name. At the moment I feel somewhat better but it can be so short-lived, so I do what I can when the fever is down.
Christmas Stocking Surprise is still ongoing and I must say that I wish I was able to enter to win this stocking!!!!  Speaking of "stocking", it is coming along beautifully.  I can't wait to post the picture of it. Today I am saying a mantra to the "Sewing Goddess" to allow me to get a little bit more done.

Today's Featured Sponsor
FISKARS

For as long as I have been sewing, whether by hand or machine, I always have had a pair of Fiskars around to help me. Being a bit of a scissor snob, I have tried a lot of different brands and while I cannot say there weren't others that I preferred as much as my Fiskars, I always fell back on the "orange" geniuses. Short of my dragging them from one area to another and "losing" leaving them, they are always there for me for whatever job is on the table.  I have a pair of Fiskars that were a shower gift in 1967,  that makes them 44 years old, and they are nearly as good today as they were back in the day! My Fiskars have survived being dropped, being used to trim grass around flowers and bushes, dog trimmers, hair cutters, guitar string wire nippers, fabric cutters,  etc., yet they are still in pretty good shape.  They have been relegated to paper cutting only simply because guitar wire cutting has left a small burr in them.  I finally broke down and got a new pair to cut fabric and have a tendency to hide them when out of my studio because everyone wants to use the "orange handled scissors".
Did you know that Fiskars has been around for 360 years?  Yep, they are located in Finland and have persevered through the good and the bad and are still here serving us with a quality product. I found it interesting that my scissors from 1967 were from the year that the orange handled scissors debuted on the market. Do you know why they have orange handles?  Here is the why taken right from the Fiskars web site.

Origins of Orange
Orange
Fiskars Orange® is an important part of our identity. Orange handled scissors are a registered trademark of Fiskars Corporation. The orange color came about partly by chance when our iconic scissors were designed in 1967. The prototype handle was created using orange resin left over in a molding machine used to produce an orange juicer. The final decision on color was decided by a vote. Orange defeated black by nine votes to seven. As of now, we have sold over 1 billion!

Can you imagine what 1 billion pairs of scissors would look like if they were all in one place? I can't but it might be fun to see. Fiskars does not make only one size and style of scissors. Take a look at some of these beauties.

and there are more types of scissors for the Classroom and Garden.  The product line is fantabulous. Fiskars sent me a rotary cutter a while back to try out and if you will stayed tuned I will be doing a review after the CSS is done.
The mandatory entry for today is for you to visit the Fiskars web site and comment back here what you would like Fiskars to put in your Christmas Stocking and why.

  1. I could really use a good pair of pinking shears for Christmas, mine are not the orange kind and don't work.

  2. Can I be greedy and ask for a couple of things. I love the Cuts+More Scissors (9"). I think they would be an amazing addition to any house.
However, selfishly I would like a set of the Fingertip Craft Knives. I have a pen like this and it is awesome!! I love the precision you get when using one for tracing patterns so I would love the knives for precision cutting - and they make a rotary cutter in the same line!!!!

  6. Oh, Jeanne, I love Fiskars! When I was growing up, the "orange-handled scissors" were off limits, so that we kids didn't cut paper with them. I now use their 45mm titanium comfort stick rotary cutter, and adore it.

If I were to choose something for the stocking, it would be a tie between the dressmaker's shears or the 18mm stick rotary cutter. Both would be incredibly useful: surprise me!

  7. I am paying attention. Is the "walking pneumonia" diagnosis the real deal? If so, I hope you are taking especially good care of yourself. Stress is hard on the immune system. So, if it's a choice between blogging and napping--nap. We'll keep checking in.

  11. Titanium Micro-Tip® Easy Action Scissors (No. 5)
is what I would like to see Fiskers put into the stocking. WHY? I have the regular (non Titanium) pair that I bought from JoAnn Fabrics. I use them on EVERY sewing project! Every time notions are 50% off they have ZERO on the shelves. Grrr. I would love to have an extra pair!

  34. Ooops, forgot to tell why. LOL
I'd love to have the 14x14 rotating cutting mat because I have limited space in which to actually cut material and to be able to just spin the mat around and keep going would save so much time

  35. I visited the Fiskers website and would love to get the 3 piece rotary cutting set!

  36. I'm double checking all the days to make sure I've completed all the mandatory requirements. I forgot to mention that I visited all the sites for Fiskars. I did not know that they made gardening tools! From shears, rakes, pruning tools and even watering cans. They also have different tools for crafting besides the awesome scissors they make. They have squeeze paper punches, rubber stamps and even a neat little craft knife that fits around your finger.

Thank you Jeanne and Fiskars for this great giveaway and a chance to win.
